Best of British as Man City and Chelsea go through to the Champions League Final Posted On 06 May 2021

It will be an all English final in the Champions League this year

 

Man City beat Paris Saint Germain 4-1 on aggregate on Tuesday night, while Chelsea beat Real Madrid 2-0 last night, which put them through 3-1 on aggregate. It will be the third all-English final in the competition following Man Utd’s win over Chelsea in 2008 and Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in 2019.

We will get a preview of the final this Saturday when both teams meet in the Premier League. A win for Man City will confirm that the title will return to the Etihad stadium this year, while Chelsea are still playing for a top four finish to qualify for next year’s competition.

If Man City do win this weekend, the Champions League will offer them the chance of a Treble this year having already won the Carabao Cup against Tottenham last month. At the minute, the Citizens look unbeatable, and if they do manage to wrap up the title, they will be able to rest key players in the build-up to the final at the end of the month.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have hit form since their new manager Thomas Tuchel took charge with the most shots on target and chances created in the league alongside the strongest defence with the most clean sheets and the least amount of shots on target faced. However, with a top four place to keep fighting for, they will have to be at their best in the league as well as preparing for the Champions League final.

The final will be on the 29th May with kick-off yet to be confirmed.
